If you follow me on insta you will know I’m mad about Urban Decay. Their vibrant colours and metallics rock my world. It’s not cheap but affordable treat. Last year brownbeautytalk collaborated with Urban Decay (UD) UK to host a Festive Season Makeup Master Class. I was one of the face models for the session. The Born To Run palette was used on me and Naked Honey was used on the other face model. We were both gifted the Naked Honey palette, as a thank you. Well, my Christmas was very quiet. I never had a chance to try the palette. Now that we are in lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, I’ve been playing with makeup and finally tested Naked Honey. I usually have gold and bronze shades in my makeup bag but this Naked Honey by Urban Decay is is delish.
Urban Decay launched the Naked Honey range in September 2019. Lizzo was the face for the range.
The eye shadow palette contains 12 exclusive golden neutrals shades and comes with a double ended smudger/tapered creased brush. Staying true to their sweet, naughty wicked nature, UD named the shades: Flyby, Sweet, Swarm, Amber, Keeper, Golden, Honey, Queen, Hive, Drip, HBIC and sting. The palette retails at £43 which isn’t bad for the decadent shadows, brush and packaging. Oh yes! Packaging is one point with the time. The box has honey comb detail on the inside, while the palette case captured the sumptuous glow and swirl of flowing honey.
Firstly with Lizzo as the face of the range you know its brown beauty friendly. The shades will work from pale to dark complexions. Now, I luv a gold shadow. It’s my go to safe makeup glam look but UD brought me back to my 90’s gold! The shade ‘Honey’ and ‘Golden’ give me life! They are not flat but give of speckles pink, orange, green when light reflects off of them. All the shadows apply well and are highly pigmented with minimal fall-out.
You can rock day, night or day into night looks with Naked Honey. This palette will take you from nude or full on glam. I wore mine with UD lippies (mostly) I bought the Sweet Little Vices gift set in the post-Christmas sales. ‘Keep Tame’ was good for a fresh faced day time look. It’s from the Naked Honey collection, so a sheer medium warm nude with honey flavour. The California Honey which I really liked for evening is a seductive metallic golden orange with gold shimmer also honey flavoured. On one occasion, I wore the reddish-pink Manic whichis a UD cream vice lipstick. (FYI the lippy in the feature image is not UD)
Although I didn’t wear the eye shadows outdoors based on my experience with UD and fact that they didn’t come off with one swipe, I’d say the shadows are long lasting. Nonetheless, if in doubt you can seal the look with UD All Nighter setting spray. I’m currently using the special edition Naked Honey All Nighter which I also bought in the sales. Luv it!
