It’s March, the start of Spring! To date Tuesday was the hottest day of the year. When the sun comes out a wonderful thing happens, we begin to feel ALIVE. We are reborn into happy shiny people. As new life springs up, we mirror their festive freshness in all things including the colour choice of our clothing. Although I’m still establishing a ‘mummy uniform’ to fit this new phase of my life I know what I like for my children. I like bright vibrant ‘unusual’ colours with prints that are fun imaginative and age appropriate. I’m a tad bit ‘ole school’ I feel that children should look like children and not little adults. Thankfully, the brand me & i are very innovative with their use of colour to create truly inspired prints. This season is no different, ‘The new collection challenges age-old gender stereotypes which suggest girls don’t like cars and boys shouldn’t wear pink, setting down the gauntlet to mums by offering the bestselling traffic print in me & i’s classic tunic shape and an all over panda print in cerise, perfect for baby girls…and baby boys!’
For SS13 me & i has new characters which include the very regal ‘kissing frog’, happy mushrooms and an adorable little panda.Pieces from the collection can be mixed and matched flawlessly with the classic ones. Isn’t that value for money? We recently received the Traffic-shirt for the purpose of this review. Angelo is a typical boy, so the LOVES anything on wheels. The Traffic t-shirt was a hit with him. The colours are not ‘gender specific’, instead there is a striking combination of: Yellow/turquoise/green/orange/red/brown/black. He doesn’t have a favourite colour yet, truth be told he’s now learning his colours but he liked the print.
The fabric is single jersey, 95% cotton and 5% elastane which means it fits well. While I didn’t carry out a wash test, I do have another item from an older collection with the same fabric composition. It’s stood the test of time. Therefore, I feel that I can unreservedly say this t-shirt can be washed and it will not lose its shape or colour. The smallest size retails at £15.The Traffic print also comes in a tunic style with the colours: Green/pink/cerise/yellow/white/brown/black. The tunic retails at £22 for the smallest size. The me & i kids’ collection caters for ages 6 months to 10 years, there’s something for each loved one.
