I first heard about Silk’n and their technology, Summer 2018. It was at their UK launch of home The Lipo machine. If memory serves me the Tightra was already in development. During that year I trialled and reviewed their Facial Cleansing Brush and was thoroughly happy with the results. In fact, I still use it! Nonetheless, when I received the press release for the Tightra I was conflicted. In the end, I decided to trial it because another thing that’s not discussed in the black community is how the vagina changes over time and the impact it can have on our wellbeing. Silk’n Tightra allows women to take control of their vaginal care.
Reasons to use Silk’n Tightra
After Childbirth and during hormonal changes caused by menopause, the vagina can change. Some women experience:
- Vaginal atrophy (thinning of the walls due to decreased oestrogen)
- Stress urinary incontinence
- Dropping Labia
Sometimes, some of the problems can be improved over time without evasive measures. However, that’s not always the case. Let’s face if you could get over the trauma and embarrassment to seek help, how many of us can afford surgery for vaginal rejuvenation?

Testing Silk’n Tightra
Although didn’t have an immediate need, I felt it was important to trial the Tigthra and rise to topic of vaginal care and confidence. I can’t tell lie, it is well made. Dare I say it looks like a piece of art but it did intimidate me. After reading the manual, I was stunned. Naturally, Silk’n have to think of every possible eventuality but it scared me. I had visions of burning out my innards. Nonetheless, I charged it for about 6 hours before my first use. I’m currently half way through my course and I’m still on the lowest setting. The course is in one or both modes (internal and external) twice a week for 4-5 weeks. At the end of the course use as need and gradually reduce frequency.
Once inserted and switched on, I felt a heat but it was not uncomfortable. Periodically, it would beep which I believe was in indicator different plates were being activated. At the end of the 20 minutes session it shut off automatically. I didn’t experience spotting (but then again I don’t menstruate anymore) or discomfort after my sessions. there was not disruption to conjugal relations.
Don’t be mistaken by the appearance or what it makes you think of, Tightra is not a sexual apparatus. It doesn’t cause that type of stimulation, well at least not for me. It’s comfort to use at home but is easily portable once it’s fully charged. When it was in place, I used the 20 minutes to read.
So far so good, I will post a follow up when my trial has been completed. In the mean time I leave you with the words of Michelle Heaton and how Tigthra has allowed her to own her confidence.
