I was recently sent some Jungle Dogs pork sausages to trial for this product review. When I unpackaged the product, Angelo ever at my side, requested to have ‘animal sausages’ for breakfast. Timing was impeccable; it had arrived just as I was fussing about what to prepare for our breakfast. It was the packaging that got to him. What child can’t identify a monkey, that cheeky fun-loving animal? He was sold before he’d even tasted it. As a mum what sold Jungle Dogs to me was the texture and flavour.
Jungle Dogs ‘are made with quality cuts of pork, naturally smoked, and contain no artificial colours or flavours and significantly no MRM.’ They come in cute little packages which makes it easier to portion out during meal preparation. Personally I hate having to open a big jar or packet of sausages, only to be left with four portions. Sometimes you wind up forgetting it, especially if it slips to the back of the refrigerator. Jungles Dogs are ‘30g hot dogs are packed in two separately vacuum sealed units, providing one serving for two to three children.’
Recipes using the hot dogs to create different, balanced meal suggestions can be found on the Jungle Dogs Facebook page . The Jungle Dogs website is also a hub for children where games and stories can be found, along with essential info for mum including full nutritional info.
As always I like to use what’s in my store board at the time. On one occasions, I fired onions, tomatoes and added a tbsp of oil then, added rounds of the Jungle Dogs sausages finished off with 2 tbs of ketchup and 1 tsp of Dijon mustard. I have no name official name this recipe, it’s something my grandmother used to prepare for me as a child.
For another breakfast, I fried the Jungle Dogs then added them into cheesy scrambled eggs mixture. I then scrambled everything together. My thinking was to add ingredients that my children love. They are fussy about textures. Anything that’s a bit chewy and/or crunch they like. The breakfast HIT!
Jungle Dogs are stocked in Tesco and Asda.
- 85% meat content in original variety
- No mechanically recovered meat (MRM)

I’d certainly buy Jungle as I really enjoy them too. Its not just for the children.
