I’ve suffered with hayfever and allergies for as long as I can remember. I was always snuffly. When I was making arrangements to come to England, my grandmother said ‘ Ah doh know how you goin’ stay in people place with dis sniff sniff every minute’ or something to that effect. As fate would have it, I didn’t have hay fever for the first 10 years of my life in the England. After that mark, with every passing year the symptoms got worse. This year as been to worse to date, in fact its triggered my asthma. If you follow me, you’ll know that two years ago I had was seemed to be a spontaneous asthma attack while on the tube. It turned out to be the result of a chest infection. I was on medication for one year then all was well. I’d been medication free for one year until now. Boots spotted my comments about my hay fever and sent me a link to their tips on managing hay fever . After that I received an invitation to their Petal Party to raise awareness of hay fever at night-time. I’ve been diligent taking my hay fever medication and there has been some improvement in my condition.
I met with my mate Mr A at Bond Street and we headed over to St. Christopher’s Place for the party tunes played by DJ Lauren Pope of TOWIE fame, at Boots’ Petal Party. Boots hosted the party to inform the public about what they call ‘Insneezia’. What’s that you ask? ‘Insneezia’ – the insomnia-esque effects of hayfever symptoms at night.
According to Boots pharmacist Tom Kallis, ‘Many hayfever sufferers lose sleep during spring and summer, when pollen falls as the evening temperature decreases. However, there is no reason why people need to let their hayfever have such an impact. If hay fever does affect you at night time– you just need to remember to take action and treat symptoms in the evening, before you go to bed.’
Asthma & Insneezia
When I visited the GP for my asthma a couple weeks ago, along with Ventolin, she recommended Loratadine for my hay ever. I couldn’t find the Allergy Barrier nasal spray that Boots recommend via Twitter so I bought their Hay fever Relief with Beclometasone Dipropionate. I also use Opticrom Hay fever eye drops for my as well. I tend to use the drops and spray during the day and the tablet late evening, because my hay ever is worse at night. I guess that means I’m an Insneezia sufferer. I don’t wear makeup on a regular basis but due to my hay fever itchy eyes I go for waterproof mascara when I do.
