Summer is all about light, effortless, barely there glowy makeup. Skin that looks healthy and fresh. As forty plus lady that’s the look I go for all year round. I prefer makeup that enhances my features and looks effortless all at once. Multitasking products thrill me! I’m usually the last to get dress on a family day out, so go for products that are good quality and can be used in various ways. I recently trialled Urban Decay’s B6 Vitamin-Infused Complexion Prep Spray, Naked Skin One and Done Hybrid Skin Perfector and Naked Skin Concealer. Urban Decay’s Naked Skin range makes me feel like bronze beauty I want to be.
I love a good selfie. As a woman of colour, finding the right makeup for the purpose is sheer bliss. Urban Decay’s Naked complexion range has seven products. I trialled their Naked Skin One and Done Hybrid Skin Perfector and Naked Skin concealers. There are also foundations, finishing powder and more. The Naked Skin concealer comes eight shades. I was went three shades of concealer Dark Golden, Dark Warm and Dark Neutral (RRP£17.50ea). The Dark Warm was just right for me. On their website the lightest shade is Fair Neutral and the deepest is Dark Neutral.
The concealers are paraben free. They are light diffusing and contain peptides which is crucial for younger looking skin. One and Done (RRP£25). comes in six shades. I was sent Deep shade which was perfect. Online the darkest shade is Dark Deep and the lightest is simply Light. On days when I wasn’t looking my usual carefree bright-eyed self, out came the One and Done. I prepped with their B6 Vitamin-Infused Complexion Prep Spray (RRP£23), then applied One and Done Hybrid Skin Perfector. On hot days, I set the skin perfector (which has SPF20) with a finishing powder and brought the look together with a generous application of liquid lipstick.
The great thing about the Naked Skin range is that its light weight and gives good coverage.
A Good Complexion
Urban Decay’s B6 Vitamin-Infused Complexion Prep Spray can be used with and without makeup. Its skin care product. It can be used for: soothe skin, prep skin and hydrates, minimizes pores and absorbs all. It contains Vitamin E and willow bark both of which aids in cell turnover. It’s applied before moisturiser or makeup, as you would a toner. I don’t use toners but I struggle to find an affordable one that works well on my skin. I sometimes use a micellar water. I quite like B6 because it’s affordable and doesn’t irritate or dry out my sensitive mature skin.
I’m never used Urban Decay products prior to this trial. While I knew of the brand, but I assumed there wouldn’t be a shade for me. Judging from the website the foundation makeup does not cover deep ebony beauties. However, their lipsticks, liners and shadows are brilliant colours that will suit of any skin tone. I appreciate that they have used live models online to demonstrate how the makeup would look on various skin tones. I think that’s a dream feature for brown beauties.
I’ve spotted some purplicious lipsticks on their Instagram feed. I want to try those next. They’ve got show stopper names and looks like: pandemonium, Jawbreaker and Seismic. If you’re a makeup lover who adores a purplicious thrill check those out too. Urban Decay will take you from skin care to makeup and set you up to be selfie ready.
