Hubby and I love theme parks. While courting, we visited beach-side and suburb theme parks. Once we visited Thorpe Park but it was so busy, we never made it inside.  He hates to queue up. Since then, I’ve wanted to visit. Along came the kids we had Merlin Passes last year but we felt the kids were still too little for the rides at Thorpe Park. Last weekend, we finally had the opportunity to have a family day out at Thorpe Park, courtesy Branston® Beans. This summer Thorpe Park Resort and Sea Life have teamed up with Branston® for great days out with a 2 for 1 ticket offer, simply get the code from specially marked packs of Branston® Beans.

Our Day At Thorpe Park

We visited Thorpe Park on May Day, courtesy Branston® Beans. It was a cloudy chilly day but we had fun. Surprisingly the park not overly crowded. The longest we had to wait was 15 minutes and that’s a record. Usually we wait an hour for popular rides. During our four hours visit we rode on family friendly rides like: Mr Monkey’s Banana Ride; Rumba Rapids, Rocky Express, Flying Fish, Storm in a Teacup.  Some we rode twice!

Angry Birds Experience And Other Attractions

While in Angry Birds Land also we sat in on the Angry Birds 4D experiences. It was amazing! As it was just the four of us, hubby and I didn’t have a chance to check out Derren Brown’s Ghost Train or I’m A Celebrity Maze.  The Maze is a family experience in The Jungle but it’s suitable for children 8 years and older.

It was also too cold for us to try Wet Wet Wet and Amity Beach, in Amity with the kids. No doubt those attractions will be very popular in the warmer months. We ended our visit in the Dome. Hubby and the kids checked out the arcade games which was a must because he’s an ole school gamer.

Places To Eat At Thorpe Park

Thorpe Park is not just for families. The park is a fun-filled day out for friends and couples. It’s easy to get to via public transport, but we drove. There’s something for everyone. It’s divided into six sections: Port & Basecamp, Swarm Island, Amity, Old Town, Lost City and the Jungle. Each section has its own themed coffee shop, food stands and fast food restaurants such as; Desperado’s Mexican Cantina, Amity Fish & Chips, Costas and Burger King.

The park was clean and there were loos strategically placed in each section. Good is amenities are important when you have a young family.  For more information on facilities and disability access, visit the website.

Cooking Wilderness Beans with Branston®

Once back at the homestead, we ended our day with a meal which included Branston® Beans. Branston® kindly sent me a recipe for Wilderness Beans (I swapped bacon for chorizo sausage, which I’d tired a few days prior to our visit. It really made me rethink how I see baked beans.

It’s not just a breakfast side. I made a dish with my own twist following the suggestion of a fellow West Indian expat. I made Sauteed Salt Fish with Branston® Beans. The beans gave the dish a lovely cream texture. I served it on a bed of rice topped with fried plantains. I’ll share the recipe with you soon. It’s so YUM! It’s great for brunches too.

This Summer, fun starts with Branston® Beans. When you purchase a pack of specially marked Branston® BBean you can get 2 for 1 ticket to Thorpe Park Resort and Sea Life.  Offer ends August 2017.
