When my blogger and mumpreneur friend Dija Ayodele first told me about CleverstiX, I knew I had to try them. After thirteen years together, with Hubby (ten of them as a married couple) I still can’t use chopsticks. Not for lack of buying them to practice. I just never get around to it. I didn’t want my children to have the same problem. For Chinese New Year celebrations at school this year they used regular chopsticks. Then, they wanted to try them at home but it lead to frustration. I contacted CleverstiX and expressed interest in product and pitched for a review. They kindly accepted and sent me two Kung Fu Panda, Po, CleverstiX for Angelo and Valentina to trial. At first sight, the kids were drawn to CleverstiX. They love Po and wanted to try the sticks. Angelo took to it immediately, Valentina struggled a bit at first but they both liked using CleverstiX.
CleverstiX child development cutlery is are training chopsticks. Winner of the Mums Love Award, CleverstiX has a special ergonomic pinchers design to improve hand-eye coordination, dexterity and eating habits. The kids used theirs with noodles, rice and fruit chunks. Valentina sometimes forgot which finger went where. She’d say ‘mummy it’s not working’ but once she got her fingers in place, she had very little trouble. I say very little because at times she’d want to race through her meal. However, with CleverstiX she had to focus and concentrate on her eating. She got annoyed. I’ve noticed that her fine motor skills have improved. Her nursery school teacher commented that she has good control and grip with her fingers. They didn’t use ClevestiX every day and still I could see the improvement.
Outside of snack and meal time, Angelo used his ClevestiX to complete a Reception class home learning challenge. He was required to see now many individual rice grains he could pick up with chopsticks. I confess, he gathered two at once but I let it pass. I didn’t want him to be frustrate because the rice I gave him wasn’t grainy enough. We both had a laugh with him trying to shake off any grains that were stuck together. His control of the CleverstiX was amazing by the end of the challenge, he’d gattered about 25 grains. He likes his ClerverstiX because ‘they are so clicky’ and he likes to ‘eat his food with them’. Valentina likes hers because ‘they are funny’ and can ‘puts three fingers in to eat her food’.
CleverstiX is suitable from 3 – 10 years. It’s an excellent tool to help little ones work on their grip not just for using eating utensils but for writing, constructing and concentration. Its dishwasher-friendly but the top-rack is advised. Both parts are temperature resistant as follow:
