There’s something about a pretty dress that immediately makes you feel soft, playful and twirly. Although my daughter rarely wears dress, when a dress arrived from Childrensalon she was all smiles. We were sent the dress for our feature on the Childrensalon, the British heritage brand for designer childrenswear. The dress my daughter, Valentina, received was a Mayoral Coral Pink Viscose Blend Dress. It’s an adorable a transition piece that will go from Spring into Summer. Childrensalon has over 280 brands to choose- from Burberry, Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana to Givenchy Kids, Kenzo, Moschino and Stella McCartney Kids.
The precursor, to Childrensalon was Joy Models which was founded by Sybil Harriman (named after her first daughter, Joy) in 1952. As business boomed, shop premises were rented and the Childrensalon (the French word for boutique) was born. This long-established British heritage brand is the world’s leading online multi- brand retailer of luxury designer childrenswear. Renowned for dressing children beautifully all over the world.
Childrensalon has acquired a global reputation for the latest fashion, exceptional service and has attracted customers with the most discerning taste for quality and aesthetics. It remains family-owned and has more than 475 members of staff in its Royal Tunbridge Wells head office.
Childrensalon featured in the 2020 Sunday Times Best Companies to Work for list, for the third year in a row, positioning at #61. As mentioned earlier Valentina’s dress comes from the Mayoral, another brand stocked by Childrensalon. Mayoral is also a family-run business. The dress is a pretty Coral Pink that features a tropical motif of Swiss Cheese Plant leaves, along with Hibiscus and Heliconia flowers. It’s RRP£43.
Additional details of the dress include; 90% viscose, 10% polyamide (soft & lightweight), lining: 80% polyester, 20% cotton, machine wash (30*C).
Valentina really likes the print and the style of her dress. It’s a comfortable, easy to wear pull-on style with elasticated waist. The bodice has thick stripes and a large knot bow detail on the front. As a transitional piece, it can be layered with leggings and t-shirt as she did. In the warmer months, it can be worn on it’s own or toped with a denim jacket.
