Valentina and I recently attended our first fashion press day event. Fittingly it was Mothercare. I’m sure I’ve said how fond I am their stores. Mother care was a life saviour to me when I was still anxious about being out alone with my babies and breastfeeding. I would only visit town centres where there was a Mother care so I could pop in to breastfeed… and shop of course! Valentina was a toddler when I attended my first Mother care event. Her dad looked after her while I was away. Now, she’s a little girl with her own fashion sense. We enjoyed our time at the press event. She played with the ELC toys on display while I took photos and enquired about the collections. She was smitten with the baby doll, which to my surprise felt as though it had the weight of a new-born! Because Valentina was with me didn’t have to dash off. I was able to listen in on the Babybox by Eve Q & A which went hand in hand with Mothercare’s new campaign, Welcome to the Club. Mothercare always anticipates what parents need, now new and old-hands can get the support they need.
Mothercare’s press theme was Welcome to the Club, in keeping with their campaign. Welcome to the Club – a series of partnerships, videos, events and product launches, all designed to unite mums and dads to take on parenting together. Check out their YouTube Chanel for helpful videos . At the press day Clemmie Hooper of @mother_of_daughters shared some of her experiences as a first time mum and how she and her husband coped as their family grew. Attendees were able to ask Clemmie for practical advice for their own circumstance. Clemmie also presented Babybox by Eve which was designed by artist Clifford Richards and created exclusively for Mothercare. It’s packed full of newborn essentials and the ideal secondary sleep space for babies at nap time, available early June. It will RRP£99.
Blooming Marvellous has sassy and glamourous for AW17. Metallic blouses, shimmery wrap tops in blacks (perfect for breastfeeding mums) and silver are super funky, not moody. Classic velvet and lace dresses will ensure mums to be felt fashionable and sexy.
MY K maintained its black and white palette but for AW17 commentary the statement colour is mustard. Adorable panda and paw prints make the collection cute with an edge. I adore the way Myleene includes a print at the back of some piece. MY K allows lil fashion aficionados to make a statement as the walk in and walk away. The range also includes panda print wellies lil V loved it. She is as fond of splish splashing as most kids are, but she also luvs cute does. MY K wellies ticks the boxes and best of all, they are unisex.
Little Bird by Jools returns with its fun colour 70’s vibe. Little Bird’s collection is transitional and will take trendy tiddlers from summer into autumn. Fairground and rainbow motifs, as well as dizzy prints and bold colours make easy piece a statement item.
Mothercare’s own collections were gorgeous. From the heritage collection which is quintessentially British. Bold reds and navies complement the double decker bus, red phone box and the Queen’s Guard motifs for the boys. Then their casual and occasion were from denim to blush pink for girls to grey’s with a hint of neon and navy’s with outer space motifs for the boys.
Talking about occasion where, Julien Macdonald for Mothercare returns for another season. It’s not to be missed. It’s a stellar collection that’s all fairytale and romance. It also includes gift items which would be ideal for christenings or birthdays.
Mothercare has something for all parents’ need. So come on in, Welcome to the Club. Visit the the Mothercare website to find out what’s in stores now.
