During October half-term week, The Tiger Tales was booked to visit Kidtropolis. Then, Hubby and Angelo fell ill. In the end Valentina and I went together. If you didn’t know, Kidtropolis is an annual kids show held at London Excel. At the event there were live shows, special appearances by popular characters, as well as opportunities to play with toys and take part in variou activities. Valentina called Kidtropolis ‘the fun place’. I could see she enjoyed having access to things perfectly sized for her. We had a lovely mum and daughter morning at Kidtropolis.
We were booked to attend a live show by TV presenter Naomi Wilkinson, The Wild and Scary Show. However, I was unable to find the stage even with directions. Val and I walked the circumference of the exhibition space and still missed it somehow. I think it would’ve been helpful to have the areas clearly marked. I didn’t notice any banners over the various staging areas. We ran into fellow blogger Joy from Joy to the World blog and her adorable daughters. The girls got along very well, so together they visited Sylvanian Families’ stand to play. The playhouse and characters were just right for their little hands. They also enjoyed dressing up at the Barbie Play Experience. Valentina chose to be a Vet. She looked so cute in her lab coat and cuddly pet patients. At Springfree Trampolines, they were allowed about 3 mins to jump about but they had to do so individually which was not as much fun. We were not given an explanation for the decision and we didn’t press.
When Joy and her girls left, Valentina and I moved on to other activities. Bikertots Adventure Zone was a hit! She was so confident on the STRIDER balance bikes. From there, we went to area the Tomy play area. Val snuggled with cuddly Kazoops’ Jimmy Jones. The attendants were friendly and helpful. They played a round of Fizzy Dizzy Hippo and Greedy Granny games with Val. She liked Greedy Granny the best. We popped by Ultra Kids Educations. I was pleased to see how much the brand had grown since I first encountered it two years ago and The Black Baby Show. Their young entrepreneurs have gone on to do amazing things. Valentina made a mask while there; which she wore proudly for the rest of the half-term week. Naturally, the 200ft Inflatable Assault Course was not to be missed. She attacked it three times like a baby GI Jane! Our final stop was at the Marine Conservation Society. Valentina was impressed by their display which included Tallulah a life-sized leatherback turtle. I really appreciated the time they took to explain the benefits of recycling and show her the different specimen of sea life.
Overall, Kidtropolis is on the right track. I think there could have been more for smaller tots as well for 8+ years. Thankfully, the day was divided into morning and evening sessions. By the end of our morning session, Val had seen all she wanted to see. Angelo he would have been bored quickly, if he had attended. Here’s hoping 2018 will be bigger and better.
