I think by now, you know I’m smitten with Crowne Plaza London The City. I fell in love the history of the location and the swanky interiors when I attended their Chinese New Year Menu presentation back in January, at the Chinese Cricket Club . Naturally, I was eager to have a peak at the bedrooms. As an expat I have a flexible idea of ‘home’. Home to me is wherever I happen to be sleeping any given night. I adapt quickly to new environments especially cosy ones. I wanted to know if the rooms were sexy cosy as ambience of the rest of the hotel suggested. And what about the views?! Well my curiosity was satiated two week. I attended Crowne Plaza London The City’s Showcase two weeks ago, boy oh boy I saw why they hold the crowne.
Location and Amenities
First of all, they have an amazing location. the hotel is opposite Blackfairs Bridge Station, within London’s square mile, Crowne Plaza London The City Showcase is easy commute to Somerset House. I think it would be ideal for the fashion set during London Fashion Week season. Looking to visit the London as a city break, then major attractions such as; Tate Modern, St Paul’s Cathedral, Shakespeare’s Globe, the London Eye and more are walk distance away. Additionally, there’s easy access to the city’s major business with direct rail links to London Gatwick Airport and Kings Cross for St Pancras International station, which is home to Eurostar.
After refreshments I had the opportunity to view a couple bed rooms. I saw the King Studio and the Club Room. There are conjoining rooms suitable for families (perhaps even girls’ or lads’ getaways). I didn’t view any. Crowne Plaza City room’s amenities:

What if you’re not a guest?
Not a guest but you are looking for fine dining in London? Look no further. Most note worthy, the restaurants and bars each have their own entrances. No need to enter via the hotel’s main entrance. As part of the showcase I also had a tour of the restaurants, lounge and cocktail bar also located on site.
Diciannove Italian Restaurant
Their menu offers a variety of meats, seafood, vegetarian options including delicious Cicchetti to share. Ingredients are fresh and regionally sourced. There’s a private dining room which can cater for up to 40 people. The executive chef Alessandro Bay can tailor make menus for special events. Diciannove has Two AA Rosettes for Culinary Excellence. Rest assured you are will be in sterling care.
The City Lounge
it’s located inside the hotel just beyond the reception area. It can be used for small meetings and interviews.
Voltaire Cocktails & Champagne Bar
Once the site of King Henry VIII’s royal Bridewell Palace, a prison and a bank. The name is quite fitting because the French writer and philosopher, Voltaire famously spent six years exiled in London. Now space is a swanky spot to hang out for business or pleasure. It features premium booths, private vaults (9 in total) and an alfresco cigar terrace.
